GE Interlogix Video Systems Group has its eye on protecting aspiring attorneys. GE has installed a digital CCTV system at Vanderbilt University’s Law School in Nashville, Tenn., that the school hopes will prevent theft and boost campus security.
“The GE Interlogix video system suits the needs of the campus,” said Vanderbilt Law School Director of Design Development and Management Eve Utley in a statement. “We will continue to add cameras as the need arises and we have recommended GE systems to other campus departments as well.”
A string of thefts drove the law school to install 14 GE Interlogix DM1500 fixed cameras along with GE Interlogix combination digital video multiplexer recorders with Ethernet capabilities (DVMRs). Officials will use the system to monitor live camera feeds from any computer terminal connected to the university’s high-speed local area network (LAN).
Cameras are placed in hallways and at the building’s entrances and exits. The school also uses the cameras, which start and stop based on motion detection, to confirm the presence of a contract guard service. SEI of Nashville installed the GE Interlogix system.
