Vector, Alarm.com Team Up to Provide Interactive Alarm Management

PITTSBURGH

Vector Security, a provider of electronic security services, and Alarm.com, a provider of wireless and Web-enabled home and business security technologies, announce a strategic new dealer program alliance. Through this partnership, Vector’s Authorized Dealers will offer www.myvectorsecurity.com, a privately-labeled version of the Alarm.com service. Included will be residential customers in New England, the Mid-Atlantic and Florida.

According to Alarm.com and Vector Security, the dealer program alliance will allow small dealers to offer emerging interactive alarm technologies to their customers without shouldering the central station-related expenses required for launch.

“Our dealers’ success rests on their ability to extend the highest quality central station services to their customers; and quality is a constantly moving target in the alarm business.  A few years ago, the bull’s-eye rested squarely on reducing false alarms, and we responded with a combination of new technologies, policy changes and the development of new procedures,” says Tom Rogers, senior vice president with Vector. “Now, the target has moved again, with connectivity and user interaction becoming the new translation of enhanced quality. We chose to respond by making this level of technology available to our dealers, so they too could meet this emerging demand.”

Rogers, who also headed Vector’s internal deployment of the Alarm.com service to its proprietary customers, cites that the current plan is aimed directly at preserving, and improving Vector’s reputation for providing the highest grade of central station services available.

“For most dealers in this industry, income from an average system sale has been inadvertently capped by what prospective customers have come to believe is the acceptable price for an alarm. Including our myvectorsecurity.com services in the mix increases the average sale price substantially, to include additional sensing devices used to monitor additional points within the house; and thereby creates newfound wealth for our dealers,” says John Madden, vice president of Vector’s Authorized Dealer Program.  “Better yet, our dealers will retain their ability to be cost-competitive at the base system level, but earn more income through the provision of a new service that is just beginning to see its potential demand. Our dealers can share in the new incomes that enhanced alarm management will bring without needing to make the capital investments in technology.”
