LAS VEGAS — Verint has acquired physical security information management (PSIM) technology provider Rontal Engineering Applications, the company announced Wednesday at ISC West. The acquisition comes shortly after ADT announced its purchase of PSIM provider Proximex.
The deal marks a change from a partner OEM agreement to an in-house offering, according to a company press release. It will also help Verint expand its portfolio of security intelligence solutions with the launch of Nextiva PSIM, Verint Marketing Director Courtney Jaret tells SSI.
“This acquisition is really about technology,” she says. “Our technologies integrated well in the past, and there is a need for this in the marketplace. Verint is one of the only vendors out here that really is an end-to-end solution provider. Now we have the PSIM element, which is just adding to our comprehensive portfolio that we can offer to customers.”
Nextiva PSIM leverages a 3D multilayer user interface to help organizations gain immediate situational awareness and faster response. The technology simulates potential disasters, such as earthquakes, fires or bomb threats, to help command and control centers prepare for the unexpected, says Jaret. “Nextiva PSIM really does 3D and 4D modeling of a city area, and outlines exit paths. It really takes you through a series of different sequences.”
The company will market the product to critical infrastructure and enterprise segments, since those entities are leveraging PSIM technology, Jaret says.
