MELVILLE, N.Y.
Published: August 3, 2004

The New Jersey Turnpike Authority has chosen Melville, N.Y. based-Verint Systems to provide surveillance technology designed to improve safety for commuters and infrastructures. The Networked Video Security Solution is a software-based system that enables government and commercial organizations to enhance the security of their facilities by networking video across multiple locations.

Toll plazas, refueling stations and maintenance facilities will add the video system to allow for central monitoring of traffic, as well as restricted areas. Verint’s video solution is able to extract actionable intelligence from live and stored video through content analytics. By alerting personnel to potential security threats, it is designed to help organizations prevent security breaches and improve response time.

The system will be used across the entire 148-mile turnpike, which serves 204 million vehicles each year. The turnpike includes two tunnels and three bridges that provide connections to New York City as well as 28 highway interchanges throughout the state.
