MILPITAS, Calif. — Verizon has joined the Z-Wave Alliance, an open consortium of global companies dedicated to promoting Z-Wave as the standard in wireless home control.
“The Z-Wave Alliance is eager to welcome Verizon as an Alliance member,” Z-Wave Alliance Chairman Mark Walters says. “This membership is an extension of the partnership we formed when Verizon unveiled its connected home products last year. We look forward to continuing this partnership as Verizon extends its home control offerings.”
The company launched the Verizon Home Monitoring and Control Service in October. The offering lets customers monitor their home’s energy usage and control appliances remotely with a Web-enabled device.
Started in 2005, the Z-Wave Alliance has more than 160 member companies and nearly 600 interoperable products on the market.
