The Utah Olympic Public Safety Command has worked with Public Safety Systems, LLC (PSS) and IQinVision to integrate video technology by Internet Pictures Corp. (iPIX) . The technology combines Internet-based video with the RAMSAFE database and gives many of the more than 60 different law enforcement agencies the ability to conduct virtual walk-throughs of every building and room in the Winter Games venue.
The RAMSAFE database stores more than 3,000 different images of each room, giving floor-to-ceiling views of each location. The RAMSAFE database also includes aerial photos, floor plans and architectural drawings. The stationary iPIX-enhanced digital smart camera has no moving parts and is being used in a wireless network employing 802.11b technology.
Jon Gordon, president and CEO of PSS, says, “iPIX’s technology is an integral part of our RAMSAFE program. When used with RAMSAFE, this technology gives law enforcement officials almost instant access to crucial information needed to support better and faster decision making, even under severe tactical conditions.”
“The combination of iPIX, RAMSAFE and IQinVision’s technologies gives the surveillance team and law enforcement officials much more control and many more options than ever before,” says Ray DeAngelis, president of IqinVision. “The flexible design architecture behind the rugged IQeye high-resolution cameras allows iPIX and IqinVision to create custom image-capture solutions for use by law enforcement agencies, the Department of Defense and the military.”
