BALTIMORE – Video surveillance footage has surfaced showing the Baltimore Police Department van that transported Freddie Gray making a mysterious second stop while en route to the Western District police station.
The 25-year-old Gray was arrested on April 12 and was put in leg irons as Baltimore police made their way to the police station. The van made a previously undisclosed second stop before the van driver, Officer Caesar Goodson, made a third stop and called for help to check on Gray’s condition, Huffington Post reports.
The van made a fourth stop, to pick up another passenger, before Gray arrived at the police station with the fatal spinal-cord injury that left him unresponsive.
Gray died in a coma a week later.
Deputy Commissioner Kevin Davis revealed investigators discovered a security camera recording from a privately-owned camera that captured the questionable stop. The two-minute clip shows five police officers at the back doors of the transport van, The Inquisitr reports.
The footage raised eyebrows because the officers failed to mention this particular stop. The reason for the stop is still unknown.
Some reports state that Gray was in the van 45 minutes before being transported to a local hospital. It is still unclear how long he was actually unconscious inside the van.
The video emerges after rioting broke out April 27 in response to Gray’s death. The revolt initially started out as a peaceful protest before it became violent.

On May 1, Baltimore’s chief prosecutor charged six police officers with a range of crimes including murder and manslaughter in the arrest and fatal injury of Gray, The New York Times reports.
