PORTLAND, Ore. — Wednesday’s Video of the Day comes from a Subway in Portland, Ore., as a Good Samaritan stepped in to confront a man robbing the store on Sunday.

In footage obtained from the store’s surveillance cameras, the robber, who was described as roughly a 25-year-old man, is seen confronting the cashier to empty out the register. The witness, Evan Jones, realized what was happening, made eye contact with the cashier, crept behind the robber and punched him in the head as the cashier disappeared to hide.

A standoff ensued as the punch didn’t knock the robber out, but Jones continued to unload on the robber as the two squared up and fought. Jones nearly brought the robber to the ground as some of the stolen money fell out of the robber’s grasps, but the robber escaped when the fight continued outside of the store.

Jones was able to recover $40 of the stolen money.

“If this guy thinks he’s just gonna walk by me with all this money in his pocket,” Jones told KATU, “he’s got another thing coming.”
