LUBBOCK, Texas — A local security company says it has experienced a “big increase” in sales of high-definition video surveillance cameras.

“We’ve done more of those this last year than any other year before that,” said Nathan Gibson, manager at Lubbock Sight Sound and Security.

Police reported 2207 burglaries occurred in Lubbock in 2015, as detailed in a KAMC report. There have already been another 71 burglaries from Jan. 1 to Jan. 15 of 2016.

Gibson told KAMC that Lubbock Sight Sound and Security equipment caught criminals in 100% of crimes committed on property equipped with the security system.

“Really, it’s the peace of mind, to me, especially if you’ve got like a stay at home mom, or wife, that is there, that you’re worried about,” Gibson said. “That’s kind of nerve-racking. Having that extra peace of mind is really what it’s all about.”
