Biometric access control provider Viisage has acquired the sole provider of technology and services for the production of U.S. passports. Trans Digital Technologies Corp. (TDT), or Arlington, Va., becomes part of the Littleton, Mass.-based Viisage in a deal valued at $20 million.
“The acquisition of TDT is transformational for Viisage, as it expands our presence in the identity solutions market and significantly extends our presence in the U.S. Federal Government market,” says Bernard Bailey, president and CEO of Viisage.
In 2003,the U.S. Department of State awarded TDT a five-year, $65 million contract for high-security production systems for U.S. passports. B. G. “Buddy” Beck, president and CEO of Trans Digital Technologies, will join Viisage’s Board of Directors as part of the deal.
