Viisage, a provider of advanced technology identity solutions, has entered into a cooperative agreement with Siemens AG to further develop three-dimensional face recognition technology.

The agreement provides Viisage with exclusive rights to Siemens’ 3-D image acquisition technology. The goal of the partnership is to provide significant enhancements to customer applications where face recognition technology is leveraged to prevent identity-related crimes, the companies say.
“The potential benefits from 3-D are expected to further advance the science and accuracy of face recognition technology and the strength of the company’s solutions,” said Bernard Bailey, president and CEO of Viisage, in a statement.
