Village Adopts CSAA Online Training Course
VIENNA, Va.
A village in Illinois has decided to use the Central Station Alarm Association’s (CSAA) online false alarm training course as its official remedial training course for false alarm offenders. The village board of Schaumburg, Ill., unanimously approved the course on April 26 and now requires any alarm user with more than five false alarms to take the course.
“Once we found out about the CSAA program and reviewed it, we were impressed by its quality and decided that it was better than any program that we could offer in-house,” said Schaumburg Police Officer John Nebl.
The CSAA says Ed Bonifas, the vice president of sales and installation for Aurora, Ill.’s Alarm Detection Systems, played a key role in initiating the effort for Schaumburg to adopt the course, which debuted in late 2004.
“We’re getting calls from many municipalities interested in this course as something they need to do,” says CSAA Executive Vice President Steve Doyle. “This gives them a great option.”
Doyle applauds the continuing growth of the CSAA’s online options, including the online level 1 central station operator training course, which has certified more than 2,000 operators since its debut in 2002. “It continues to go better than we thought,” says Doyle, who adds the CSAA plans to introduce an online level 2 course sometime this summer.
