VISIONICS’ SYSTEM TO BE USED BY ALABAMA BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION

MINNETONKA, Minn. and JERSEY CITY, N.J.

Visionics Corp. has received an order from the Alabama Bureau of Investigation (ABI) for 30 FingerPrinter CMS live-scan fingerprint systems. The total value of the order is approximately $660,000.

The order enables the state’s busiest jails, courthouses, etc., to submit fingerprint and demographic records electronically to the recently upgraded Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) and the Criminal Justice Information Center in Montgomery. The system captures fingerprints of applicants and transmits the images to the ABI, which, in turn, submits the image for searching against the state database.
AFIS then returns background check information to the site.

In conjunction with criminal arrests, it allows for the recent legislation passed by the state legislature, which mandates agencies such as education to perform criminal background checks on job applicants and provide live-scan fingerprints for electronic submission to the ABI.

“We remain committed to delivering superior systems to this market, ensuring that the civil sector complies with federally mandated background checks on its employees,” says Joseph Atick, chairman and CEO of Visionics. Visionics is a provider of identification technologies and systems.
