TAMPA, Fla. – Vivint, a provider of smart home technology, gave more than 100 employees the day off to spread some holiday cheer throughout Hillsborough County in Florida.
This year marked Vivint’s third annual community food and toy drive in Tampa. Since the program’s inception, the community has donated a collective 21,000 pounds of goods to Metropolitan Ministries.
Vivint employees and their families went door-to-door on Dec. 15 in Tampa to collect goods for the local charity. The food and toy drive includes donations of dry food, canned goods, toys and diapers for homeless and needy families. All donations come from local residents, while Vivint provides 100% of the collection efforts.
“We have hope for the suffering families in our community because we know Tampa Bay cares,” said Justine Burke, director of marketing, Metropolitan Ministries. “Vivint’s employees are shining examples of hope for those in need, and we truly appreciate their efforts in making the holidays special for the families we serve.”
Employees planned to collect more than 7,000 pounds of food and toys for Metropolitan Ministries this year. The local ministry provides food, housing, life skills services and other resources for the homeless and those at risk of becoming homeless and hopes Vivint’s holiday effort will lift the spirits of their families this holiday.
“This drive is my favorite event of the year,” said Neal Rogers, regional sales manager at Vivint. “The holiday season can be especially hard for families who struggle to make ends meet. The experience of bringing the community together to give back is extremely rewarding during this time of year.”
