VTI Security Technology Series a Hit at ASIS Expo

SecurityNet member VTI Security recently concluded its five-part continuing education series for customers with a roundtable wrap-up following ASIS International’s 2006 Annual Seminar and Exhibits in San Diego.

Attendees learned basic concepts about IP cameras, Power over Ethernet (POE), megapixel cameras and video analytics.

“Each two-hour session was presented from the customer’s perspective,” says Bryan Viau, VTI vice president. “We wanted them to understand the basics around the technology, the potential impact in the future and where and how the technology could be deployed within their system architecture.”

The concept for VTI “U” was to create a customer-defined educational and product-centric training series leading up to ASIS.

“We first brought a group of key customers together and presented a series of technology topics and asked if they would attend sessions that were educational as opposed to selling opportunities,” Viau says. “Everyone agreed that they wanted to learn more about new technologies and so we began with these first topics.”

The sessions were held during four consecutive Tuesdays leading up to the ASIS expo. The final session was a roundtable discussion between VTI “U” attendees and the VTI sales team that attended ASIS. The assemblage shared opinions about what everyone saw and heard during their time at conference.

“We had over 120 attendees at the sessions and the majority requested that we continue the process into 2007,” Viau says.
