Security monitoring firm Westec InterActive is adding hardware manufacturing to its repertoire and doubling its workforce after the acquisition of three companies. Video monitoring hardware manufacturer DV Dallas, digital video online application developer d2 Digital Designs and security integrator Sparta Consulting Group were acquired in multiple deals announced Oct. 12. Terms were not disclosed.

Dallas-based companies DV Dallas and d2 Digital Designs were both owned by Darjon Bittner, who becomes Westec’s vice president of technology development under the deal. Severin Sorensen, who owned Frederick, Md.-based Sparta, will now serve as vice president of business and applications development for the Irvine, Calif., monitoring firm. All three companies will serve as separate divisions for Westec.

“Concurrently acquiring DV Dallas, d2 Digital Designs and Sparta Consulting Corporation allows Westec to very quickly expand our network of intelligent technology and deepen our service offerings as well as leverage their exceptional proprietary technologies for the benefit of its regional and national customers,” said Westec Chairman and CEO Gerald Vento in a prepared statement.

DV Dallas manufactures hardware that helps provide video monitoring for commercial clients, while also manufacturing fixed and mobile DVR systems. Sister company d2Digital Designs specializes in providing online portals for digital video, training and other applications.

“The combination of Westec, DV Dallas and D2 gives us the ability to bring better monitoring solutions to the marketplace,” says Bittner.

Sparta specializes in providing integrated security solutions for high-risk environments such as housing developments, government and manufacturing facilities. It also has proprietary monitoring technologies that will be folded into Westec’s monitoring operations.
