Alarm monitoring firm Westec InterActive plans to build its central station of dreams in Iowa. Westec says it will open its Visual Communications Center (VCC) in West Des Moines, Iowa, by next month. The company, which specializes in video monitoring, says the new facility will service Westec’s international customers.

The VCC will incorporate new technologies with proven equipment and network with Westec’s other stations in Irvine, Calif., Dallas, Texas, Frederick, Md., and Palm Beach, Fla.

“Central Iowa provides an excellent business environment that is also centrally located in the United States, which will complement Westec’s existing facilities and allow us to continue growing and serving our customers internationally,” says Westec InterActive President Mitch Johnson.

To staff the new facility, Westec says it will hire 120 new employees during the next three years.

Implemented in the Iowa station will be Westec’s new iVR platform, which adds intelligent business monitoring to its security services. The platform will allow enterprise-level audits and reporting, intelligent video and GPS asset tracking.

The new facility is being partially funded from a grant Westec is receiving from the Iowa Department of Economic Development with the assistance of the City of West Des Moines. Westec also recently a $20 million cash infusion from equity firm Clarity Partners.
