Whitepaper: Personalization, Bundling Are Keys to Driving User Experience

A new report by Parks Associates cites increased competition in the connected home in 2015 and provides insight into global trends for the Internet of Things and more.

LAS VEGAS – Parks Associates released a new whitepaper at CES 2015 showing personalization, created through data analytics, unique interfaces and targeted product features, will be the key factor in creating product and service differentiation in 2015.

The whitepaper, “The Connected Consumer: Top Trends in IoT,” cites increased competition in the connected home in 2015 and provides expert insight into global trends for the Internet of Things, entertainment and streaming services, digital media, digital health, tech support, mobile services and apps, and smart home and energy technologies.

The report found that 37% of U.S. broadband households plan to buy a smart home device in 2015. Already one-third of all video viewing occurs on platforms other than a TV, such as a smartphone or tablet.

“Most companies are only scratching the surface when it comes to personalization and effective utilization of big data,” says Stuart Sikes, president, Parks Associates. “Data analytics and constant connectivity give companies the tools they need to provide an enhanced user experience, which will be the key differentiator in 2015.”

Sikes comments that companies like Google and Amazon need to differentiate to compete, and so they are pushing ahead with offerings that align with their customers’ habits to create a unique experience. Companies that fail to leverage this powerful tool, he says, will continue to struggle.
