Correctional Service Canada (CSC) has ordered three personal alarm systems from Dominion Wireless Inc. to be installed in three of Canada’s federal prisons. The systems will use Dominion’s alarm locating system, called FLARE™, which uses radion frequency (RF) technology to pinpoint a user in distress. “CSC made a commitment nearly a decade ago to equip all of its staff with the most advanced, reliable personal security systems available,” says Roger Christ, president of Dominion Wireless. “We worked with CSC to conduct pilot tests of FLARE in its prisons and are pleased that it has met and surpassed CSC’s stringent security requirements for a locating accuracy of 20 feet.” The FLARE systems are expected to be installed and operational by the end of the year. This will bring the number of Canadian facilities using the technology to eight. “We’re conficent that FLARE provides the best security available for CSC’s staff,” says Mike Jonckheere, director general, technical services, CSC.
