Wireless Reporting Technology Offers Additional Source of RMR

Published: October 31, 2006

Honeywell Security & Custom Electronics of Syosset, N.Y., announces the release of what is probably the industry’s first group of alarm signaling products that make use of Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) technology.
The system uses up to three communication paths between a protected premises and a central monitoring station to assure reliable alarm transmission in the most difficult of situations. It also enables security dealers to expand their current business by addressing the current move from land-based phone lines to voice over IP (VoIP) and wireless.

The new Honeywell line of radios includes a General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) model that also incorporates the Internet as a primary communication path.  As a bonus, when clients use GPRS as part of the existing AlarmNet system, the average monthly fee will rise, meaning dealers will realize more revenue.
