ANAHEIM, Calif. — A woman whose dog was saved from a fire at her home has an ADT security systems operator to thank, but she wasn’t just satisfied knowing the operator saved her pet’s life. She wanted to meet the man himself.
So ADT operator David Tompkins flew 2,500 miles to meet Amber Cooper and her dog at their Anaheim home on Friday.
“That was awesome to actually be able to meet the person who took the call, placed the call and made sure that everything was taken care of so quickly,” Cooper says.
Cooper was not home when Tompkins called her saying her house was on fire. The only thing Cooper cared about in the home was the safety of her dog, Fiona. Tompkins called 911 and firefighters responded on the scene to help get the dog out of the burning house.
Anaheim Fire and Rescue captain Dan Lecon tells ABC 7 in Los Angeles there was little visibility in the house but after firefighters opened a secondary door, Fiona ran out of the house into the backyard.
“It means a lot that I helped somebody out before they lose their house or her family pet,” Tompkins says.
