TycoIS Scores With Sports-Themed Marketing
Tyco Integrated Security’s exceptional year helped the firm earn runner-up status for SSI’s Installer of the Year. Find out more.
An SSI Installer of the Year winner a year ago, Tyco Integrated Security (TycoIS) had to settle for runner-up status after posting another exceptional year. A business unit of Tyco, the Boca Raton, Fla.-headquartered business employs 7,500+ employees in 200 locations who serve around a half-million commercial clients. Approximately 37% of its parent company’s $10.6 billion of revenues in fiscal 2013 were generated from North American installation and service.
During the year, TycoIS continued to leverage traditional media channels to present key messages to the public through a steady stream of press releases that include new product launches, industry awards and personnel announcements. High-profile video to reach its target audience included TV commercials featuring NFL Hall of Famer Steve Young as well as a video spotlight on the partnership with Fenway Park. In addition to conducting frequent satisfaction check-ins with customers, TycoIS has used tradeshows to personally connect with current customers. For example, at ASIS 2013 the company set up two customer appreciation events.
“The first event focused on touching base with global customers and included a cocktail party that provided time for executives to meet face-to-face with their customers,” says TycoIS Vice President of Marketing Hank Monaco. “The second event was hosted at a planetarium and featured live music, food and drinks for everyone to enjoy. There were no speeches made, rather the event was an opportunity to thank customers for continuing their partnership with the company.”
Social media platforms are another way TycoIS is keeping current and potential customers informed. For example, specific LinkedIn groups for the financial services and food defense verticals were developed to help reach and engage with those targeted audiences. TycoIS also offers high level training, employee career paths, and is active in community and industry causes. TycoIS V.P. of Industry Relations Jay Hauhn is the current CSAA president, serves on SIA’s Board of Directors and his contributions to furthering industry technology and standards earned him induction into SSI‘s Hall of Fame
