SAN FRANCISCO – The California Alarm Association (CAA) hosted several hundred installing security contractors, manufacturer representatives and other industry stakeholders from across the United States for its annual winter conference.

Held at the Fairmont San Francisco Hotel, the event (Nov. 29- Dec. 2) marked CAA’s 25th anniversary and offered attendees a series of educational sessions, a keynote by Rancho Santa Fe Security CEO Denise Korenek, the annual executive symposium and networking activities.

A highlight each year is the bestowing of the CAA George A. Weinstock Award during a formal dinner and ceremony. The award recognizes lifetime achievement and service to the security industry. This year’s honoree was Mike Matson of Fresno, Calif.-based Matson Alarm.

He was praised by the CAA for more than three decades of leadership to his company, which he runs with his brother Larry Matson, and service to the industry. During the ceremony Matson’s industry peers praised him as a tireless fundraiser through the years, with donations benefiting various police, fire, sheriff and K-9 organizations, as well as public outreach facilities.
