Insights and Sights From ESA’s Leadership Summit
The ESA’s well-attended executive leadership and peer networking event delivered on its objective to provide attendees with practical information and guidance to run stronger organizations.

The 2016 ESA Leadership Summit attracted installing security contractors from across the U.S. who took part in numerous educational sessions, networking activities and more throughout the three-day event.
CHANDLER, Ariz. – The Electronic Security Association’s 2016 Leadership Summit attracted more than 250 security industry professionals from across the U.S. for three days of educational sessions, networking and other activities at the Wild Horse Pass Hotel and Casino, located here.
Held Jan. 31-Feb. 3, attendees jammed conference rooms and general sessions to hear from small business, cybersecurity, marketing and other related subject matter experts. Topics of discussion during the interactive sessions delivered on ESA’s “Link, Learn and Lead” event theme, providing attendees with practical, how-to advice and guidance on operating stronger organizations.
The summit included surprise announcements of honorees for the Morris F. Weinstock Person of the Year and the Sara E. Jackson Award. In the following video, you can view some of the Western-themed fun that was had by all when ESA President Marshall Marinace found himself in trouble with the law after being named the Weinstock recipient. (Or as you’ll year ESA Past President John Knox pronounce “Weinstock [RI-SIP-INT]” in that recognizable Tennessee drawl of his!)

The summit served as a platform to launch the ESA Mentorship Program, the association’s newest effort to help develop the next generation of industry leaders. In all, 15 mentors and their protégés were paired based on developmental goals and areas of interest indicated in applications submitted months earlier. ESA said the cornerstone of the program is the Professional Development Series, which calls for the mentorship pairings to meet a minimum of two hours at least once per month either in person or by phone/video conference.
