Flashback Friday: Inside Benson Systems Security Upgrade at the University of Phoenix Stadium

This Sunday, fans will flock to the University of Phoenix Stadium to cheer on either the Seattle Seahawks or the New England Patriots at Super Bowl XLIX.

To prepare for the big event, many upgrades have been made to the stadium, including the addition of more than 200 HD surveillance cameras and black hawk helicopters and X-rays.

Of course, this isn’t the first time the University of Phoenix Stadium has gone through a huge renovation for a big event. In fact, Benson Systems received the 2008 SAMMY Award for Integrated Installation of the Year for its work on the Westgate City Center, a mixed-use community that includes the University of Phoenix Stadium (home of the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals), Jobing.com Arena, where the NHL’s Phoenix Coyotes skate, a convention center, retail stores, hotels and a residential district.

Benson Systems designed a Cisco IP network infrastructure that would allow centralized monitoring and control of IP video surveillance cameras, access-card readers, parking structure gates, automatic pop-up
barriers used to close roads, and intrusion detection systems.
