Stopped by the Genetec booth (26057) to learn about a new subscription model for its flagship unified security platform, Security Center. As Christian Morin, vice president, cloud services, explained, Security Center Subscription allows customers to receive the same local, on-premises version of Security Center and pay for it on a monthly or annual basis, as opposed to purchasing the entire system upfront. Morin cited a Gartner research report that projects by 2020 more than 80% of software vendors will change their business model from traditional license and maintenance to subscription, regardless of whether the software resides on-premises or in the cloud.
