Arecont Vision Rolls Out Free Multisensor Camera Upgrade for Customers
The camera upgrade includes multi-stream support improvements, cybersecurity enhancements, ONVIF Profile S support and much more.
LOS ANGELES — Arecont Vision announces a new sustaining release that brings new features and capabilities to its multisensor cameras.
“With the new technologies and features, plus camera enhancements that we added, it’s just like getting an entirely new camera for our customers — for free. Except that they don’t have to test, select, purchase, install, and configure a new camera, and dispose of the old one,” says Jeff Whitney, vice president of marketing, Arecont Vision. “The customer (or their integrator) just has to update it over their network, without taking it down or physically accessing it, and our Technical Assistance Center (TAC) helps them upgrade it with the new features over the phone.”
Arecont says the upgrade capability is made possible by use of the FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) integrated circuit (IC) at the core of every Arecont Vision camera, which is used by its fifth generation, in-house developed Massively Parallel Image Processing (MPIP) architecture.
The new SV2 multisensor sustaining release is now available through the Arecont Vision Technical Assistance Center (TAC).
Upgrades in the release include:
- SNAPstream bandwidth reduction technology
- Multi-stream support improvements
- ONVIF Profile S support
- White balance improvements (WB 2.0)
- New color correction capabilities
- Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) improvements
- Digest authentication
- Port filtering
- Cybersecurity enhancements
- New, updated web interface
New Arecont Vision SurroundVideo G5 and SurroundVideo Omni G2/G cameras built after Dec. 1 2017 now include the updates in the SV2 multisensor sustaining release, and will start making their way into authorized distribution channels. Cameras in inventory at Arecont Vision facilities or at authorized distributors can be field upgraded.

PlateSmart Joins Arecont Partner Program
PlateSmart, a provider of Automatic Vehicle Recognition (AVR) solutions based on ALPR (Automatic License Plate Recognition) technology, is the latest company to join Arecont’s partner program.
“PlateSmart is excited to be part of the Arecont Vision ecosystem,” says PlateSmart CEO, John Chigos. “Using the high image quality Arecont Vision megapixel cameras allows our ALPR-based software to analyze a larger field of view, and still accurately capture the license plate, state jurisdiction, and vehicle make to further enhance the user experience.”
Through the Arecont Vision Technology Partner Program, sales, development and support contacts are established between the two companies to better engage with end user customers and systems. Arecont Vision cameras are in the PlateSmart test lab, while the PlateSmart ARES software is in the MegaLab test and certification facility, according to the company.
