Berk-Tek Copper/Fiber Hybrid Cable
New Holland, Pa.-based Berk-Tek has combined fiber strands and copper conductors under one jacket. The new hybrid cable was developed to provide data, video and power with one cable capable of covering extended distances.
According to the company, the cable can be used in areas where there is a demand for structured cabling but is limited by UTP copper transmission distances, such as IP cameras for closed-circuit installations. Multimode fiber can be used for longer lengths while maintaining Ethernet compliance.
