Biometric Hand Reader Replaces ID Cards That Can Be Stolen or Lost
The Biometric Handreader by Schlage Recognition Systems of Campbell, Calif., an Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies company, is capable of credential management while ensuring only authorized users enter a facility. The reader has a flat platen with five metal posts to ensure proper hand placement. When registering for enrollment, the user is asked to place his or her hand on the platen with each finger touching a corresponding post.
The system is designed to take three measurements to make certain identity, the average which is saved to memory for later use. The Biometric Handreader system is designed to replace traditional identification cards, which can be lost or stolen.
