Buried Cable Perimeter Security Can Locate Intruders Within 10 Feet

Southwest Microwave of Tempe, Ariz., introduces the INTREPID MicroTrack buried cable sensor, designed to detect intruders and pinpoint their location within 10 feet. The MicroTrack uses terrain-following technology with precise detection capabilities and site-adaptive properties that make it a significant and different perimeter security solution, according to the company.

The system includes a processor with two pairs of buried cables, each pair functioning as a transmitter and receiver. Burial requires 6 to 8 inches beneath the surface. This creates an electromagnetic detection field that has the ability to detect disturbances that occur on the surface. While the system can locate intruders within 10 feet, multiple systems can be networked to secure larger areas.
