Cameras Said to Improve Exposure

Pelco of Clovis, Calif., introduces the Model CCC5100 Series single-Instruction, multiple data (SIMD) cameras that feature a new imaging technology specially made for security. According to Pelco, SIMD cameras provide excellent color reproduction across a wide range of lighting conditions with higher image quality and better dynamic range than traditional cameras can provide.

Traditional cameras often find it difficult to produce quality pictures in situations where there are both light and dark areas in the same camera scene. Using SIMD technology, the cameras are able to digitize light at the point of image capture, in real-time. Each pixel determines its own exposure time on an individual basis. Traditional cameras use average brightness across the entire scene, which can result in under- and overexposure.
