Honeywell Expands Security Alarm Communications Coverage with Verizon Wireless Network

CDMA Radio supports Honeywell Total Connect Remote Services and alarm signal transport for fire, burglary and status messages.

MELVILLE, N.Y. — Honeywell (NYSE: HON) introduced the first in a series of alarm communications radios compatible with Verizon’s wireless network, which the company says gives security dealers more options to expand their business in alternative cellular coverage areas.

The new CDMA-X Radio with Verizon 1XRTT technology supports Honeywell Total Connect Remote Services and alarm signal transport for fire, burglary and status messages. It also comes pre-activated and is remotely upgradable.

The new line of radios from Honeywell is said to leverage Verizon’s wireless network, which is based on Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) technology. Radios registered via AlarmNet Direct can be activated in all Verizon and Verizon partner coverage areas, which is said to help dealers increase their wireless footprint and speed up installations.

The CDMA-X radio is compatible with Honeywell VISTA control panels and is said to provide security dealers with an opportunity to earn additional recurring monthly revenue (RMR) with Honeywell Total Connect.
