Paige Datacom Upgrades GameChanger OSP Cable

Paige says the GameChanger significantly exceeds the reach of traditional category cable and now the OSP shielded cable can extend through multiple environments.

MOUNTAINSIDE, N.J. — Paige Datacom Solutions has launched a newly improved version of its GameChanger OSP Cable.

The new Outside Plant (OSP) shielded cable is a direct-burial solution that integrators can use to streamline the installation of outdoor devices ranging from products such as wireless access points (WAPs) to security cameras.

“Our customers were asking for a single solution that would take them from inside the building, to the outdoors, underground and up light poles – so they can hang cameras or access points without adding complications and costs to their installation,” says David Coleman, vice president of business development for Paige Datacom Solutions. “This is an all-in-one solution that will make their life easier.”

GameChanger OSP Cable Is CM Listed

The company explains that it developed the cable for robust installation environments, and to ensure its long-term reliability it engineered the new cabling product to meet a number of criteria, including its ability to meet CM listing requirements.

Paige Datacom Solutions states the GameChanger OSP Cable is engineered to eliminate the limitations of typical cables to extend the ability to run signals distances more than 50 feet from an indoor location.

The company also notes the new shielded cable carries an 600V AWM rating and it can be used in locations such as light poles where power cables are present.

Some of the other design elements of the GameChanger OSP cable include a “non-sticky” gel-filled core that is said to block water and prevent degradation of system performance in wet, outdoor environments. Moreover, the cable’s designation as a low smoke zero halogen (LSZH) product, makes it possible to use in applications like a tunnel or a transit facility.

The N.J.-based company adds the GameChanger cable was originally introduced back in 2017. The cable is specified to deliver 1Gb/s Ethernet and PoE+ distances as far as 656 feet. It can also provide 10Mb/s Ethernet up to 850 feet to eliminate IDF requirements and options such as repeaters, power supplies and other accessories.

“For those who need a low cost, simple solution to put outdoor cameras and WiFi access points up, this really is a game changer,” comments Coleman. “With one cable, you can install a point-to-point solution that does not require boosters, electronics, transitions or separations.”
