If you’ve ever been skiing, you can appreciate being able to pull on a pair of ski boots, step into the bindings, click the bindings into the skis and not think twice about whether all that gear was made by the same manufacturer. That’s because the ski equipment manufacturers use the same industry standard. It’s an analogy manufacturer Cypress Integration Solutions uses to describe its implementation of the popular Open Supervised Device Protocol (OSDP) standard. Here, I am featuring the company’s OSMIUM line of OSDP-enabled products. The OSM-1000 is a universal OSDP interface module. It is the ï¬rst in the suite of OSMIUM products specifically designed to allow legacy card access panels and readers to interface with the Security Industry Association’s (SIA) OSPD standard.
