Napco VCAM-I Web-based Camera
Napco Security Systems, based in Amnityville, N.Y., is now in the Internet video market. The VCAM-I network/IP video camera and ViP-Gateway universal four-camera IP module are aimed at enterprising dealers that are interested in earning additional revenue aside from security monitoring alone. The VCAM-I is a Web server-based camera that can be directly connected to the Internet, whereas the ViP-Gateway is a standalone Web server that allows security to connect four composite video cameras for Internet use. The system is capable of sending authorized users an e-mail with a captured frame of the perpetrator when an alarm occurs. Frame rate settings vary from 5 fps for hi-resolution (640 X 480 pixels) pictures, 15 fps for midrange (320 X 240) and 25 fps for low-resolution pictures (160 X 120).
