Viakoo Unveils IoT Tracker, Camera Firmware Update Manager at ISC West

LAS VEGAS — Viakoo, a provider of automated system and data verification solutions for video surveillance and access control, introduced its new IoT Tracker at ISC West 2018 today.
The IoT tracker is said to help deliver verification for other IoT devices on the network, such as WiFi locks, security entrances, uninterrupted power supplies, visitor management systems and more.
Viakoo says the IoT Tracker was created to help users verify connectivity of IP-connected devices on a regular basis to ensure they remain operational, in addition to gathering data through Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) to provide reliable and complete updates on the operational status of each device.
“Our users require visibility and automation for IP devices beyond video surveillance and access control networks,” says Bud Broomhead, CEO, Viakoo. “Viakoo’s thorough knowledge of proactive automation served as a natural basis for us to provide a solution for all IoT devices utilized by physical security systems.”

Viakoo also introduced its Camera Firmware Update Manager (CFUM), which provides capability to automatically update firmware on camera devices from one or more vendors, and perform these updates with a chain-of- trust method that ensures integrity of the firmware, according to the company.
“Camera devices are often distributed throughout a facility, which can lead to situations where new camera devices are introduced to the network with outdated versions of software and, over time, fall further behind,” says Broomhead. “It can be difficult to identify and catalog the camera devices with out-of- date software and find vulnerabilities. Automating and managing firmware updates can assure your camera devices are running on the most recent update.”
Viakoo claims CFUM is the industry’s only solution to automate firmware upgrades across a security system with multiple camera vendors and VMS manufacturers from a single management console.
