LINCOLN, Neb. — The University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Osborne Legacy Complex is a 315,000-square-foot facility that’s home to the Cornhuskers’ entire football operations, the main student-athlete dining center and the academic center for all campus athletes.

This athletics performance facility is named after one of the most storied coaches in all of college football, Tom Osborne. The complex has made its mark in college athletics, setting a standard as a one of the best facilities in the country.

ECC has shared a partnership with the University of Nebraska for more than 30 years primarily as an AV and fire safety integrator at Memorial Stadium; and additionally, as an AV integrator at the Devaney Center, Hawks Championship Center, Hibner Stadium and Sid & Hazel Dillon Tennis Center.

ECC continued this partnership through the Osborne Legacy Complex to serve as an AV and fire safety integrator on this project, providing facility-wide AV systems, an emergency radio responder system, Kirkland smoke evacuation system, Rath area of rescue systems and a Siemens networked fire alarm system that comprise more than 50 spaces.

ECC also provided a facility-wide emergency radio responder system, Rath Area of Rescue Systems, and a Siemens networked fire alarm system. The emergency radio responder system provides comprehensive coverage throughout the whole facility dedicated solely to emergency communications.

The area of rescue systems help connect individuals with those who can help in a fire, medical or safety emergency at every level of the building.

The Kirkland smoke evacuation system allows efficient evacuation of all smoke in the event of a fire to clear it out from the building and it’s integrated with the fire alarm system for a fully optimized evacuation process.

The Siemens networked fire alarm system is integrated with Memorial Stadium’s Siemens fire alarm system and both of these systems through this integration operate as one large system that prioritizes the upmost safety for everyone.

From Fire Safety to AV

ECC provided Barco video wall processors that power both the Experience Lobby video wall and the locker room’s ceiling video wall to give the ability to deliver 3-D content, all paired with sound systems.

A 99.6’ long Da-Lite video projection wall stretches across the Walkthrough Room that’s brought to life by five 25,500 lumens Barco laser video projectors, together boasting more than 11.5 million pixels that were implemented by ECC with seamless projection blending provided by Barco and domeprojection.

The pool and recovery space also features a Samsung video wall in a 4×4 configuration, and two 1×5 SkyVue outdoor-rated video wall systems in the center that are both blended into a stunning waterfall that feeds into the surrounding pools.

The football lounge showcases a Samsung 2×4 video wall centerpiece paired with JBL Loudspeakers in the open commons area that players are able to utilize for entertainment. The theater is located inside the lounge in its own room encompassing around a single-display video wall.

It’s paired with Fulcrum Acoustic loudspeakers that are powered by a Dolby Atmos & DTS:X home theater processor and QSC power amplifiers.

More About the Osborne Legacy Complex

A 24’ long tab-tensioned Draper electric projection screen fills the team meeting room, displaying content from a 31,500 lumens Christie laser video projector with two 85” Samsung crystal UHD 4K video displays on the back wall. The projector turns on through automated AV control and descends from a Draper in-ceiling scissor lift.

Fulcrum Acoustic loudspeakers are spread across the front of the room, paired with two Shure digital wireless microphones and two Shure ceiling array microphones. The meeting space can be streamed through the lens of a Panasonic 4K 60p NDI PTZ camera.

Both players and coaches have specialized meeting rooms for each of their position focuses, outfitted with AV systems that enable seamless collaboration. The coaches have a primary meeting space called the War Room for high-level planning.

The War Room is brought together by a 7,600 Lumen Christie 4K UHD laser video projector, in conjunction with two Samsung 4K UHD video displays for extended content sharing and a Shure in-ceiling microphone array for complete speech coverage. Countless other meeting spaces can be found within the complex for easily accessible, technology-enriched collaboration.

Every space has complete AV integrated control via QSC touchscreen displays. Each space’s AV systems allow for various content sharing options from BYOD Mersive wireless sharing, displaying the in-room computer’s content, direct HDMI device sharing and Tripleplay IPTV that brings forth on-screen channel control to immediately share live television content.

Each video wall has advanced video control options, allowing users to send various pieces of content across different screens or the same content across every screen.

All AV touchpanels include volume control and spaces that feature PTZ camera streaming have camera control ability from the touchpanel. All AV distribution is handled by Crestron’s DM NVX AV-over-IP technology. The audio distribution is controlled, processed and managed by QSC Q-SYS digital signal processors.

Every conference room and meeting space is paired with a Crestron room scheduler for streamlined space scheduling.

The Osborne Legacy Complex locker room, outdoor practice field and weight room are filled with audio systems comprised of Fulcrum Acoustic loudspeakers and subwoofers. QSC power amplifiers plug the team into a focused mindset in the locker room and weight room; while Powersoft power amplifiers electrify the outdoor practice field.

The Experience Lobby utilize L-Acoustics loudspeakers, subwoofers and power amplifiers. Each audio system has BYOD Audio Sharing capabilities, so anyone can play their audio whether from Bluetooth or direct connection.
