Here’s How Much Security Pros Receive for Bonuses and How Often — 2018 SSI Salary Study
The 2018 SSI Wage & Salary Study reveals how much security integrators are paying in bonuses, how often and for what.
The 2018 SSI Wage & Salary Study reveals that 70% of security integrators expect to pay employees bonuses of some type in 2018. Below are findings from the comprehensive study of security industry wages and salaries, conducted in February 2018 with 217 responses recorded.
So how often do security pros earn a bonus? Once a year is the most common payout for companies offering bonuses, with more than half reporting in that grouping. Interestingly, quarterly is then much more common than bi-annually (16% vs. 6%).
The most critical factor in bonuses is how well the entire company fares during the year, with more than four in 10 basing payouts on that. Still, nearly a third offer bonuses for individual effort.
The total bonus paid varied greatly. While the most popular bonus payout is in the $250 to $1,000 range, more than a quarter of companies kick it up to as high as $3,000. Nearly one in five (16%) exceed that amount. The average bonus paid is $1,609.
In terms of sales, 81% of security contractors allow technicians to upsell equipment/services. The study also reveals that 45% of security integrators/dealers pay technicians a flat rate for upselling equipment/services, with 6.7% being the average commission rate paid to technicians for upselling equipment/services.
