Drawing inspiration from the wildly popular 2GIG GC2 panel, Nortek Security & Control is set to revolutionize the residential security and automation landscape with the introduction of the new 2GIG GC3 home security and automation panel. The new all-in-one panel combines monitored home security and the ability to control smart home devices into an intuitive, 7″ touchscreen panel fully equipped with user customization options, mobile security alerts and update capabilities. As the thinnest panel on the market today, the GC3 enables the homeowner to remotely operate and control up to 232 smart home devices including thermostats, light bulbs, and light switches directly from their smartphone anywhere in the world at any time.
With home security often at top-of-mind for homeowners, the GC3 was designed to not only provide customers will total peace of mind but also enhance their lifestyle as they manage and control a range of connected home devices. Supported by the exclusive backend provider Alarm.com, the new GC3 system is fully compliant with the Alarm.com mobile app, giving consumers easy access to control the safety, comfort, and mood of their homes every day, from anywhere. Once installed, homeowners can use the GC3 to arm their system while they are away or, receive smartphone alerts about the safety of their home via information collected from any number of 2GIG and GoControl smart home and security sensor solutions, including glass-break sensors, door/window sensors, and smoke and CO2 detecting solutions.
Enhanced user and dealer experience was paramount during the GC3 panel design process. As a result, the GC3 features a completely overhauled graphic user interface (GUI) compared to the panel’s predecessor, the GC2. For dealers, the redesigned GUI resulted in a 30% faster install in beta of the GC3 panel. For homeowners, the intuitive new GUI opens up ease-of-access making the new all-in-one security and home automation panel easy to use and simple to understand. As a direct result of the overhauled GUI, arming the entire system is simple with one-touch arming which enables homeowners to secure their house right from the home screen to activate door locks, alarms and deactivate lights.
As the ideal intersection between security and smart home control, the GC3 gives homeowners a completely scalable solution that grows with their needs to provide security and automation to a variety of home sizes. Additional features to come out of the resigned GUI architecture include the new “Rooms” and “Bookmark” custom features which allow either dealers or users to group frequently-used smart home controls onto one screen for quick access. The “Bookmark” button feature specifically allows the user to create a customized default home screen for the particular room.
Designed with future-proofing in mind, the GC3 was architected using a patent-pending CellSled™ design which allows users or dealers to quickly and easily upgrade the radio technology. As older cell radio technology is phased out and becomes obsolete, the GC3 can grow as technology advances and continue to provide premium home control and security for the homeowner. To connect to and control other smart home devices, the GC3 featured integrated Z-Wave 500 Series, built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and can also receive over-the-air (OTA) updates through a cellular connection or via a USB port.
The GC3 is panel is packed with best-of industry features which enhance ease of use including a new patent-pending resonant audio chamber design which allows for the clearest two-way voice communication, a 24-hour battery back-up and five-day weather forecasts and alerts.
