John Tyhacz has been promoted to vice president of operations for the Ademco Group, part of Honeywell’s Home and Building Control Business. Tyhacz will be responsible for the manufacturing operations and planning functions in the company’s Syosset, N.Y., headquarters. He will also handle planning functions at the office in Juarez, Mexico. The company also has named Paul Martin as business development manager of national accounts. Martin will serve as the customer point of contact for all marketing and product-related issues.

Microtec Enterprises Inc. of St. Augustin, Quebec, Canada, welcomes Jean-Pierre Ouellet as CEO of the new partnership between Microtec and Hydro-Quebec. The mission of the partnership is to develop and distribute a new generation of home automation of products for the Canadian and U.S. markets.

Sensormatic Electronics Corp. has named Gregory C. Thompson as senior vice president and CFO. Thompson recently served as vice president, controller and acting CFO. He joined the company in February 1997.

Daniel Hearn has been chosen as eastern regional manager of International Fiber Systems Inc. (IFS) of Newtown, Conn. Hearn formerly served as the principal at Midlantic Marketing. IFS also welcomes Robert Thropp as A&E marketing manager for North America. He brings 15 years of market experience in industrial and broadcast video, CCTV, access control, and fiber-optic video and data transmission equipment.

AlarmNet announces that Ivar Bazzy has been selected as vice president and general manager. In his new role, Bazzy will supervise all of the company’s operations, administration, marketing, including field engineering and systems engineering. AlarmNet is part of the Ademco Group.

GeoVideo Networks of New York introduces John Franco as vice president of sales and marketing. Franco will lead the company’s direct sales force, and will develop value-added customer programs for the delivery of GeoVideo’s network and software products and services to a variety of core business markets.

Mel Mahler has been appointed as president of ADS Security, a Nashville, Tenn.-based alarm company. Mahler serves on the Executive Committee of the Central Station Alarm Association (CSAA). Prior to joining the company, he served as president of Ryder Distribution Systems.

Tyco Fire and Security Services announces that Edward F. McDonough Jr., CPP, financial services business development manager for ADT Security Services Inc., has been appointed to the Professional Certification Board that oversees the ASIS Certified Protection Professional (CPP) program. As a board member, McDonough will serve on two committees: the Seminar Committee, which works to plan CPP-only educational sessions; and the Body of Knowledge Committee, which assists in determining the core knowledge for the security profession.
