PROVIDENCE, R.I. — ASSA ABLOY Global Technologies Division (GTD) CEO Joe Grillo has announced his departure from the company.

“The time is right for me to step down and search out new challenges,” says Grillo. “I’m proud of the achievements made by the excellent management team and employees at all three business units making up the division, which includes HID, Hospitality and Identification.”

Previously the president and co-founder of HID, Grillo helped lead the effort to sell the company in 2000. After its acquisition by ASSA ABLOY, he went on to form its Identification Technologies business unit. He was named to head up GTD in 2003.

Johan Molin, CEO of parent ASSA ABLOY, AB, will take over management of GTD for a transition period until a permanent successor is named.
