Grassroots Marketing Hits Home With SAMMY Winners

Published: May 31, 2009

Hundreds of electronic security professionals joined SECURITY SALES & INTEGRATION in honoring the industry’s most innovative and successful marketing tools and deployments at the 14th annual SAMMY Awards. The industry’s premiere marketing extravaganza pays tribute to security contractors for their sales and marketing, business management and installation acumen.

The awards gala offers a venue for industry leaders to share successful business strategies, network, and bestow recognition to those who took their marketing techniques to new industry highs. Many of this year’s winners found success in taking the grassroots approach to their sales and marketing endeavors.

“The SAMMY Awards are great for the industry,” says ASG Security’s Senior Vice-President, Sales & Marketing Bob Ryan. “By giving companies something to shoot for, it progressively increases the quality of the marketing across the entire industry.”

This year, SSI introduced the new Installer of the Year category for contenders to compete in. Two companies were honored with the distinction: The Protection Bureau (small to midsize company with 300 or fewer employees) and Stanley Convergent Security Solutions (300+ employees).

The accolades gave 10 companies the chance to stand before industry peers and receive recognition for a job well done.

“The SAMMY awards drive us in the marketing decisions that we make throughout the year,” says Nikki Johnson, Director of Marketing of Rochester, Minn.-based Custom Alarm. “There are many occasions that we design a new ad, or new commercial and say, ‘Do you think this could be SAMMY worthy?’ Personally, the SAMMYs motivate us to stay on top of our game.”
