NFPA Proposes Security Standards
The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) has completed the drafts of its list of security guidelines for residential and commercial facilities, as well as a standard providing installation requirements for electronic security systems. The NFPA is accepting public proposals on both documents: NFPA 730, the Guide for Premises Security, and NFPA 731, the Standard for the Installation of Electronic Premises Security Systems.
The NFPA is inviting members of the electronic security industry to review the documents and provide comments and proposals of their own by Jan. 5. Copies of the two drafts can be found at www.nfpa.org.
Pelco Makes Giving Toys to Tots a Holiday Tradition
It started with two employees and a couple of toys in 1991, and has grown into a tradition at Pelco that lives up to the holiday spirit of giving.
Each year this decade, Pelco’s employees have driven the Clovis, Calif.-based CCTV systems manufacturer to donate more than 100,000 toys to children for the holidays.
Pelco now holds fund-raisers and its representatives solicit donations during sales calls. Toys for Tots, run by the Marine Corps Reserves, collect toys during the three months leading up to Dec. 25 and distributes them as Christmas gifts to needy children.
