Potter Expands Product Line With Acquisition

ST. LOUIS — Fire and security detection company Potter Electric Signal Co. LLC boosted its product offerings by way of its British subsidiary, Potter UK Holdings Ltd., acquiring Elmdene Int’l Ltd. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Portsmouth, U.K.-based Elmdene specializes in fire and security detection products such as magnetic contacts, shock and vibration sensors, internal and external sounders. The company, which distributes its wares throughout Europe and the Middle East, also has a comprehensive line of power supplies.

“This acquisition strengthens Potter’s position in the fire and security markets through a broadened product line, increased international reach and enhanced production and sourcing capabilities,” says Bernie Lears, president and CEO, Potter Electric. “Elmdene also brings a talented senior management team that has grown Elmdene to a leading position in the industry.”

Former owner Tony Earl will continue as chairman of the board of Elmdene. Sean Heskett of Potter Electric will serve as president of Potter Europe and managing director of Elmdene.
