Stanley Works Outlines Acquisition Plans at Security Growth Conference

Published: March 31, 2007

SANTA MONICA, Calif. — Electronic security industry executives gathered in Santa Monica, Calif., recently for the 5th annual Security Growth Conference, providing them a stage to showcase their business and strategic vision to members of the financial and investment community.

Brett Bontrager, president of Stanley Works’ Convergent Security Solutions, provided a keynote address during the first day’s luncheon. He says security will be the focus of acquisitions for Stanley for the next two years. The company, which recently snapped up HSM Electronic Protection Services, is likely to “lay low till the end of the year,” he said, “and then look to be active again.”

Of particular interest to dealers and installers, Bontrager stressed repeatedly that customer service excellence would be imperative to succeed in a “highly fragmented security integration industry.” Reinforcing a conference theme, Bontrager says the convergence of physical security and IT, along with open architecture, will be vital to any company’s success in the marketplace. “Customers want data in real-time,” he says. “That is the future.”
