ADS Security Grows Footprint in Alabama With SAFECO Acquisition
The purchase will add approximately 1,300 accounts to the ADS Tuscaloosa branch.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. ADS Security, a regional electronic security and automation company based here, has acquired customer accounts from Security and Fire Equipment Co. (SAFECO) of Northport, Ala.
The purchase adds approximately 1,300 accounts to the ADS Alabama customer base, growing the market to approximately 21,300 accounts.Terms of the deal were not disclosed; however, ADS Director of Marketing Kristin Milner tells SSI the company will pick up about $28,000 in recurring monthly revenue (RMR) in the transaction.

The SAFECO buy marks the first purchase for ADS this year, following the acquisition of about 6,500 accounts in Alabama, South Carolina, Tennessee and Georgia in 2015. In 2014, ADS acquired five security companies across the Southeast totaling approximately 6,400 accounts.
SAFECO customers will have access to the ADS advanced suite of residential and commercial security and automation services, including mobile management, smart home technologies, video surveillance and access control solutions; proprietary UL-listed, CSAA Five Diamond monitoring center; and My ADS customer portal with online account management.
