Edwards Releases New Line of Low Frequency Audible Fire Alarm Notification Appliances

All appliances use NFPA 72-mandated frequency of 520Hz.

Edwards released a full line of low frequency audible alarm notification appliances on Tuesday at ASIS that comply with NFPA 72, the National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code.

The code mandates that alarms in sleeping areas such as dormitories, multi-family dwellings, hotels and other properties use a low frequency (520Hz) tone to alert occupants of a fire or carbon monoxide emergency.

Edwards’ new line of horns, speakers and sounder bases are UL-listed to the revised 520Hz signaling standards.

Edwards is positioned at booth 3915 at ASIS in Anaheim, Calif.

The product line comprises more than 65 low frequency compliant models. They include:

  • Genesis G4LF Series: Horns and Horn-Strobes — Generates a 520Hz tone in the standard 3-3 temporal pattern. Synchronizes with all Genesis audible signals through Edwards control equipment. Horn-only models may be ceiling- or wall-mounted.
  • Genesis G4HF and GCHF Series: Wall Speakers, Ceiling Speakers and Speaker Strobes — Part of an end-to-end audio system solution for low frequency signaling. Combines high-performance output with low-profile design for versatile life safety audio solution in large areas, according to the company.
  • Sounder Bases for Intelligent Detectors — Operates as independent local alarms, or as part of zone or system alarm synchronized with audible output. Supports fire alarm and carbon monoxide detectors and requires one electrical box and one wiring run.
