Honeywell Merges Access and Video Systems Units, Aims to Bring ‘True Integration’ to the Market

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — In a move aimed at bringing truly integrated access and video security products to the market, Honeywell has merged its Access Systems and Video Systems business units to form the Honeywell Systems Group.

John Lorenty will head the new group, which will be headquartered in Louisville, Ky., and act as a fourth arm of security and life safety products alongside Honeywell Security, distributor ADI and the firm’s fire alarm product lines.

“We’re talking about integrating the product,” Lorenty says. “People are running into interfaces and not truly integrated products. What people will see is true integration.” While Lorenty says “truly tight integration” has been a common request from dealers, it is the customers they serve that are raising the loudest voice.

“At the end of the day, it’s not the integrators screaming for integration, it’s the end user,” says Lorenty, who says he meets often with a selected panel of end users. “End users played a part of the decision to combine the group and feed a lot of our development.”
