3-Way Integration Secures Lane Community College
TORRANCE, Calif.—AMAG Technology has partnered with Allied Fire & Security and DAP Technologies, a rugged handheld computer manufacturer, to provide an integrated security solution to Lane Community College (LCC) in Eugene, Ore.
LCC installed AMAG’s Symmetry Enterprise Security Management System with Symmetry Video. The management system was integrated with DAP Technologies’ Guard System handheld wireless computers to increase the efficiency of data collection, processing and transmission. The collaboration created a secure mobile security solution.
The system also integrates with R32, the class scheduling software system used by LCC. This three-way integration shares the same database allowing mobile enrollment and providing total flexibility, according to the companies.
“AMAG, Allied and DAP offered an integrated, reliable and flexible system that met Lane’s needs now, and will grow with them into the future,” says Allied Fire & Security, Security Consultant Mark Conger.
According to Matt Barnette, AMAG Technology’s vice president of sales and marketing, the college was looking for an integrated IP-centric security system that would satisfy their access control, video and wireless enrollment and verification needs.
“The Symmetry Security Management System was a cost-effective, powerful solution which met their current needs as well as their long-term requirements,” says Barnette.
LCC’s Symmetry Enterprise Security Management System consists of 400 smartcard readers and approximately 50 video cameras. AMAG’s Symmetry Edge Network Controller, a Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) one-door controller, provides LCC with distributed intelligence and fast response to access requests even when offline.
