DW at ISC West 2019: Complete Solutions for IP and Coax Infrastructure

Among its exhibit highlights, DW has developed a new server-only Blackjack rack mounted device and associated network attached storage (NAS) devices.

ISC West 2019 will be held April 9-12 at the Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas.

SSI spoke with Digital Watchdog (DW) Director of Marketing Mark Espenschied to see what the video surveillance provider will be exhibiting for its dealer partners at this year’s show.

What is the top product or offering your company is showing off at ISCW this year, and what makes it unique or special?

DW Spectrum IPVMS continues to gain market share as it continues to offer new features. The soon-to-be released version 4.0 will be available to try at the show — expected late Q2. It is very easy for alarm and access control systems to be integrated into DW Spectrum, which is a big part of its popularity.

With an unmatched easy-to-use interface and amazingly powerful image processing, once people try DW Spectrum, they want it. They want that kind of user experience. After all, we say that DW Spectrum IPVMS is “Built for Users.” There is no charge for the server or client software, and there is never a charge for upgrades. The only charge with DW Spectrum IPVMS is for a one-time recording license per camera or device.

What other products or offerings would you like to highlight, and what are some of their unique qualities?

DW maintains a leadership position in panoramic cameras, both multi-sensor and hemispheric, both IP and HD over coax. In fact, DW developed the first HD over Coax multi-sensor cameras, including our user-configurable four-sensor design.

DW has developed a new server-only Blackjack rack mounted device and associated network attached storage devices [NAS]. Used together, they offer flexible and powerful options to manage an IP surveillance system, store and backup camera data. DW Spectrum IPVMS makes them a breeze to setup and use.

What else is new or noteworthy about the company for 2019?

DW has developed a new CMS client for our VMAX IP and HD over coax recorders. We call it C3 for Command, Control, Communicate. It’s ease-of-use and versatile feature set are surprising and powerful. It will also be available to try during the show.

DW continues to develop our edge camera line, now with 4- and 5-megapixel models. We call them MEGApix CaaS for “Camera as a Server.” They come with DW Spectrum IPVMS installed and with a choice of SD card capacity. No server is needed. Up to 12 CaaS edge cameras can be merged into a single system. They are perfect for small businesses that want state-of-the art features, and especially small businesses with multiple locations.

What is your company’s overall value proposition to installing security dealers/integrators? Why should they do business with you?

DW manufactures complete solutions for IP and coaxial infrastructure. DW products are open source and ONVIF conformant. Whether an integrator is looking for a complete solution with recorder and cameras, a hybrid solution with an analog to IP HD encoder, or individual devices to add to an existing system, DW has technologically advanced dependable products and friendly people you want to do business with.

What do you see as some of the top opportunities in the marketplace right now?

There are many opportunities for video surveillance integrators today. When you consider the billions of dollars in existing coaxial infrastructure already installed, upgrading to HD over coax can be a very attractive option for those end user customers. DW offers camera and recording resolutions up to 5 megapixels that are easy to swap out or add.

Everyone is focused on intelligent video and there are many options to choose from. With so many options available for analytics, don’t lose site on the specific need of the end user customer.

Always remember that surveillance includes more than security. Many companies are also using video surveillance systems as management tools and to increase productivity.

Anything else you would like to add?

DW’s leadership and engineers are on the cutting-edge of technology for video surveillance. Integrators can look to DW as a knowledgeable and active partner for the success of their business and to deliver real value to their end user customers.
